The Town of Rockland has completed two feasibility studies evaluating the need for a new Fire Station Headquarters at 99 Church Street, at the corner of Church and Howard Streets (i.e., the old Lincoln School site), as well as other alternatives to renovate the current station on Union Street. This $33.2 million project was initially put before voters in the spring of 2023. Unfortunately, the proposed project did not pass at either the election ballot or at Town Meeting.
As a result, the Select Board, Fire Chief, and Fire Station Building Committee listened to voters and have come up with a new 'Plan B' that is smaller and less expensive. The new project reflects a 21% reduction in cost, from $33.2M to $26.1M.
